Ellis and "A-Hunter"
Ellis has an adorable boyfriend who is about a year and a half younger than her, but she loves him - Hunter. Everytime we visit with my friend Hope, Ellis wants to see her son Hunter (or A-hunter as she calls him). Since Loni was out of town all weekend, Hope and Hunter kept me company: I was treated to breakfast and dinner on Friday by them. Anyway, she loves him and is fascinated by everything he does, all his toys and basically everything about him. I now present, Ellis and Hunter:
Thanks Hope for a fun date day on Friday!

Lucky You!
I saw this on Sara Miller's blog. This'll be FUN!
{Lucky you!}The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done this year.
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or an article on properly cleaning your face before a masque. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me! {Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!}

Valentine's Day
Loni and I have never been big fans of celebrating Valentine's Day, but since it fell on a Saturday this year we decided to go out to dinner. We, along with Marie and Sefa, and Chantelle and Jershon decided to go to Ipanema Brazilian Grill in Seattle. It was SO much fun. Loni and I had been there before but the other two couples never had. Ipanema is a rodizio style restaurant that is for the carnivore in all of us. 16 different kinds of meat are brought around on skewers and you can have as much as you want. Even with all the meat that was available, the best part about it was the grilled pineapple with cinnamon. It was to die for. This was one of the best Valentine's days I have ever had - it was so much fun! Our waitress was hilarious and even taught Loni some new handshakes. Sefa was so excited about all the meat that he didn't even use utensils - he just went caveman style and used his fingers! If anyone is ever in Seattle and wants to experience great food and an even better atmosphere, they should check it out!

My Views
My dad sent me an email the other day that included the quote I am going to paste below. It really struck home especially with the way this country is headed. I work hard for my money and feel that I should have a say in how it is spent. Anyway, here is my political two cents for the day:
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Conversations with Ellis
We were sitting there getting calmed down for the night and House started on the TV. Ellis was raptured by the theme song (probably because we own the seasons of House and she has heard it since she was little-er). Anyway, we are sitting there and she grabs my face, turns it towards her, looks me in the eyes and says, "Mommy...you're beautiful." Melted my heart!

Conversations with Ellis
So as Ellis starts to talk more and more, I hope to have a lot more of these posts. To start them out, I just wanted to list the things that Ellis says now. She is so freakin cute and as she is learning more and more words she is getting cuter (and sassier). I may have listed some of these in earlier posts, so sorry if I repeat some!
- Ellis (lifting up my empty water bottle): "hereyougo, mommy...it's heavy"
- Ellis (hitting her head on the headboard): "i sorry, daddy, i sorry" (for what???)
- Ellis (walking up to me in the kitchen): "you okay, mommy? you okay?"
- Ellis (wanting to show you something): "c'mere, show me." (at the same time bringing her fingers in a come hither motion. Also, 'show me' is code word for 'candy')
- Ellis (walking out to the car, or outside): "its winny (windy). momma's car....daddy's car...momma's car.....daddy's car. running?"
- Ellis (listening to the radio): "i don like it [the current song playing]" so we change the channel, "i don like it"...change the channel again...."oooh, i like it (and then proceeds to dance)". Her favorite songs right now (that she asks for ALL the time) are: "Bom Bom Bi-dom" and "Shake Shake" [translated: Distrubia by Rhianna and Shake It by Metro Station]
- Ellis (talking into the phone this morning when I called to check on her with my mom): "Hi, Mommy! Hi, Mommy"
Me: "Hi baby...What are you doing?"
Ellis: "Hearts" (referring to the shirt my mom got her)
Me: "did you get a new shir-"
Ellis: "Hi, Mommy...Hi Mommy....Hi Mommy.."
- Ellis (answering 'What is your name'): ELLIS
- Ellis (asking to watch a movie): "mommy...Mermaid...Mermaid. A-rieal"
She says HI to anyone and everything. Loves other little kids. Loves to color and is always asking to color. Rolls her eyes at you and snubs you when you try to get her to eat something she doesn't want to. Loves playing with her Elmo Live doll - she mouths along with Elmo and will give him hugs, tickle him, honk his nose, etc. We bought her some princess "action figures" this weekend and she carrys them with her everywhere. When she wakes up in the middle of the night and walks into our room, you can bet she has her "princesses" in her hands. Still loves her binky. I tell her that she will have to give it up when she turns two, but we will see who wins that arguement. She knows time out very well and will usually shape up when we mention it. She can almost cry on command when she isn't getting her way. She loves to go "running"; for Ellis there is no jogging, it is either meandering or running.
Anyways, she is growing up so fast and in two months from tomorrow she will be 2. Crazy. Loni and I both love her so much!
